The interim government on Thursday filed three petitions with the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court to halt three separate orders of the High Court — granting bail to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, staying the Anti-Corruption Commission’s notification for submission of her wealth report and granting bail to business tycoon Abdul Awal Mintoo.
Advocate-on-record Md Kholiquzzaman told reporters after filing the petitions that the chamber judge of the Appellate Division, Justice M Hasan Ameen, might hear the three petitions on Sunday.

After hearing two separate writ petitions filed by Hasina, also president of Awami League, the High Court bench of Justice Shah Abu Nayeem Mominur Rahman and Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury on Tuesday granted her bail in the Tk 5 crore extortion case filed by businessman Noor Ali.
The court also issued a rule on the government to explain within four weeks why the approval, given by it for applying the Emergency Powers Rules in the case, would not be declared illegal.
It also directed the government not to proceed further with the case under emergency rules till disposal of the rule or until any further order is issued by it.
