The chief justice, M Ruhul Amin, has said the Supreme Court will come forward to save the nation from any crisis.
The Supreme Court has always played its role in the past at any critical juncture of the nation. It is doing so now and will be doing so in future,’ he said, addressing, as chief guest, a seminar on ‘judicial reforms and independence of the judiciary,’ at the Shahid Shamsul Haque Auditorium of the Supreme Court Bar Association on Saturday.
The people who work with the judiciary should be mentally independent first to ensure the independence of the state organ, he said.
The Supreme Court in 1999 gave an epoch-making verdict for the separation of the judiciary from the executive. The constitution also stipulates such separation, but unfortunately the judiciary has not been separated from the executive.
