In a briefing to nearly 50 foreign diplomats in Bangladesh , Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury , the foreign Affairs Advisor to the caretaker government said that huge sums of money was spent to destabilize the government. This is why a curfew was imposed.
Chowdhury said that the situation in Bangladesh is now under the government control. Iftekhar Chowdhury also assured the diplomats that the present government will not, even slightly, deviate from the aims and objectives with which the present government assumed the responsibilities. He said that the election in Bangladesh would be held accodring to the roadmap.
The British High Commissioner in Bangladesh said that the foreign advisor had informed that although the case has been filed against eighty thousand people , the charge was against twenty people only. He repeated the assurance from the Foreign Advisor that no body would be held without any charge, The foreign advisor also said that if any connection was found with the recent turmoil , no body
would be spared.
