Awami League to take Along 14 Party Alliance in Election Talks

The Awami League has decided that it would discuss with its allies in the 14 Party Alliance to place identical proposals for electoral reforms in their dialogues with the Election Commission.

The AL presidium at a meeting at acting party president Zillur Rahman’s house on Friday decided to prepare proposals similar to those of its allies to be placed before the EC.

The party has assigned senior presidium member Tofail Ahmed to maintain contacts with the components of the AL-led alliance in this regard.
The AL is scheduled to hold dialogue with the EC on electoral reforms on November 4.

The acting chief of the party Zillur Rahman said that the AL-led 14-party alliance, formed during the last BNP-led regime, still existed, so the components of the alliance could still take a common stand on issues like electoral reforms.

The acting AL president, however, said that a final decision regarding the dialogue would be made in the party’s central working committee meeting after receiving invitation from the commission.
