The US military in Iraq says coalition forces have captured 15 suspects believed to be involved in smuggling weapons throughout the country.
It says the 15 were arrested without incident during a raid early on Sunday in Baghdad. The military says one of those detained is believed to be a senior smuggling network commander.
In other developments, Iraqi police say gunmen killed a member of the Nineveh provincial council and three bodyguards in Mosul Sunday.
On Saturday, insurgents killed six people -- four policemen, two civilians and an Iraqi reporter who worked for a local newspaper in and around Mosul.
The US military says two American soldiers were killed by gunfire Saturday - one in the northeastern province of Diyala, and the other in southern Baghdad.
