One person was killed and 20 others, including 11 policemen, were injured when villagers clashed with police in Birbhum over faulty rationing system. Police fired and used tear-gas to disperse the mob.
At Labpur, villagers torched a portion of the local BDO office and a police vehicle and ransacked the panchayat samiti office and the Integrated Rural Energy Power office when a heated argument during an all-party meeting held in the BDO office turned violent.
