US Sends More Aid to Bangladesh

A US Air Force C-130 aircraft brought relief with relief materials worth $290,000 for cyclone survivors to Zia International Airport in Dhaka. Bangladesh government officials and US Embassy officials accepted the aid.

Later the relief supplies were airlifted to thousands of survivors of Cyclone Sidr in the nation. The relief items that are being transported to Barisal are first handed over to U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) partners -- Save the Children, and World Vision – who will then distribute the materials to the affected people in Barguna, Patuakhali, and Pirojpur.

The United States has already provided more than US$14.4 million in emergency funds, commodities, and transportation.

Zahurul Alam has more on the story.
