9 Killed as India Train Collides With Van

Railway officials in India say a train rammed into a packed van on Tuesday, killing at least nine people and injuring two others.

Official say the motorized three-wheel vehicle was hit as it drove across an unmanned railway crossing in eastern India.

Railway officials say the dead include the driver of the rickshaw and others who were crammed into the small vehicle.

No one on the train was injured in the accident, which occurred near the village of Balisahi about 60 miles south of Calcutta.

It was not clear what caused the accident.

A month ago, a train rammed into a bus in the northern Punjab state, killing nearly 20 people, including several children.

Paramashish Ghosh Roy has more on the story.
