Prison officials in Bangladesh say detained former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been taken to a Dhaka hospital for treatment.
Officials say Ms. Hasina was transferred to the hospital under tight security on Tuesday from a special jail set up inside the parliament compound.
A team of doctors recently examined Ms. Hasina, who is suffering ear problems, high blood pressure and other ailments.
One of the doctors Mudassir Ali told VOA, Bangladesh service that Ms. Hasina should travel overseas for better care. Specialists say Ms. Hasina risks going deaf if she does not receive appropriate treatment.
