Belal Muhammad, now a retired member of the staff of Radio Bangladesh was one of the initiators of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra , the Radio Free Bangladesh which operated first from Kalurghat in Chittagong and then from being in exile from Kolkata.
This Radio station was a perennial source of inspiration throughout the liberation war. Belal Muhammad joined the then Radio Pakistan and was working as a script writer when the liberation war began in 1971. Belal Muhammad immediately joined Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra.
