Bangladesh Caretaker Government Holds Pre Poll Dialogue With Parties

On the first day of its pre-poll dialogue with political parties, the government sat with the Workers Party of Bangladesh (WPB) in the morning and assured that it would take all ‘necessary’ steps to ensure the participation of all political parties.

WPB’s demand included that the government lift the state of emergency, relax the conditions on political activity, withdraws controls on the media, holds general elections before local elections and stop ‘interference’ by military and non-military intelligence agencies. In the afternoon the government sat with Bikalpa Dhara.

The chief adviser and five advisers participated in the talks with the parties.

Amir Khasru has more on the story.
