Awami League (AL) on called for an intensified mass movement to secure unconditional release of its detained chief Sheikh Hasina and allow her to join the dialogue and election as a free person.
The grass root level leaders of Awami League have advised the central leadership ot to go for election nor to enter dialogue with the military-backed caretaker government in Bangladesh without getting their leader freed from the jail. Spelling out a 6-point demand at the party’s crucial extended meeting held after long-eight-year, Acting AL President Zillur Rahman asked the people to free Hasina through movement, the way father of the nation Bangabandbu was freed from the gallows through mass upsurge in 1969.
On the question of joining the dialogue, he said AL working committee will finalize the decision based on the opinions of the delegates attending the extended meeting that beganin the morning. Zillur said if the government wants to make the dialogue a success to overcome the crisis through an acceptable, free and neutral election, it must accept the 6-point demand that envisages unconditional release of Hasina immediately.
