The separatist Gorkha Jana Mukti Morcha has given a 60-hour break in the continuous general strike agitation in Darjeeling.
But, the situation in the hills is very tense. The state administration is worried that this may turn into a Nepali-Bengali racial conflict. At least two organizations in the plains are actively opposing the Morcha`s demand for a separate hill state.
