BNP and four party alliance is yet to decide whether to participate in next local body election. It is expected that BNP secretary general Khondaker Delwar Hossain will give a decision regarding local body elections at a meeting in the evening.
Earlier, BNP and its allies had given ultimatum to the government that they would boycott this election. The alliance is demanding release of their leaders and holding of national election before the local election. The alliance will observe demand day for withdrawal of the state of emergency on July 9 and basic rights day on July 16. All local units have been asked to observe the days.
