The Awami League, one of the major political parties had its first meeting with workers party of Bangladesh aiming at bringing together the 14-party alliance and pro-liberation groups to take part in the local government polls under the banner of a citizen committee. AL leader Tofael Ahmad told VOA that they want to continue this electoral alliance till the next parliamentary election.
Workers Party leader Bimal Biswas said the caretaker government's main responsibility was to hand over power to an elected government after holding a free and fair election, and the government should be more conscious of their job.
