In the standing committee meeting of Bangladesh Nationalist Party , the party
on Saturday decided that Chairperson
Khaleda Zia will lead the party for life.
Briefing journalists at the party
headquarters after the meeting , Secretary General Khandaker Delwar Hossain
said Chowdhury Tanvir Ahmed Siddiqui proposed that Khaleda should be given the
lifetime party membership. The proposal was accepted unanimously.
Khaleda, who was let out on bail after a year behind bars on graft charges
Thursday called the meeting to discuss a schedule and agenda for dialogue with
the government.
Tarique Rahman's resignation from politics was not discussed in the meeting. However suspension order against Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan and Ashraf Hossain remained and endorsed appointment of Khondoker Delwar Hossain as party Secretary General.
At Saturday's meeting that lasted over an hour, it cancelled the controversial October 29 decisions appointing Saifur as acting chairperson and Major (retd) Hafizuddin Ahmed acting secretary general.
