Islamic Terrorist Organization now Appear in the Garb of a Political Party in Bangladesh

Harkatul Jihadul Islami Bangladesh HUJIB a Sunni extremist group that follows the Deobandi tradition of Islam, was founded in 1980 in Afghanistan to fight in the jihad against the Soviets. It also is affliated with the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Fazlur Rahman Jalili faction (JUI-F) and the Deobandi school of Sunni Islam.

This group has been responsible behind different terrorist activities in Bangladesh. This group's activities have been declared illegal in Bangladesh and they have been totally banned. In 2002 US State Department has also included HUJI in its list of terrorists. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, in March this year, in an executive order denounced HUJI-B as a known terrorist group in Bangladesh.

They have now formed into a political party named Islamic Democratic Party. NGOs dealing with security matters have expressed their deep concerns on this.
