The BNP and its key ally Jamaat-e-Islami will apply for registration with the Election Commission (EC) on Monday , the last day of the extended time limit.
BNP Joint Secretary General Nazrul Islam Khan collected the registration form from the EC secretariat on Sunday .
Jamaat leaders also went to the EC secretariat to collect the form.
Registering with the EC is mandatory for the political parties to contest the general election.
BNP Secretary General Khandaker Delwar Hossain told reporters that the decision to apply for registration on Monday was taken in the greater interest of the party. They simply do not want to give any opportunities to the government to live BNP out from elections.
