Sofia Islam once worked as a school teacher, first in Pakistan, then in Bangladesh & later in Uganda.
Her teaching career began in Tangail with the famous Bhareteswari Homes. Later in life she worked with women in rural Bangladesh and at present working with them for a NGO organization in order to empower women in Bangladesh, especially in rural Bangladesh.
We recorded this interview during her recent private visit to the U.S.
