Secretary of State for South and Central Asia , on Saturday appreciated Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina's proposal for setting up a joint anti-terrorism task force in South
Asia, reports agencies.
"I saw the proposal and I think it''s a very interesting idea," he
told reporters after meeting with Home Minister Sahara Khatun and State
Minister Sohel Taj at the Home Ministry Saturday afternoon. He said since
international terrorists incline to operate internationally, international
community can get organized and cooperate with each other.
Boucher, however, said they would see how other countries will react to it. If
necessary, the US will look forward to support it. Boucher who came here early
Saturday as a first step of his regional tour said US extends all cooperation
to Bangladesh so terrorists cannot use its soil.
Earlier Richard A Boucher arrived
in Dhaka early Saturday on a two-day visit to Bangladesh.
He met leader of the opposition and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and Home
Minister Advocate Sahara Khatun on Saturday.
Boucher will call on Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina, Speaker Advocate Abdul Hamid, Foreign Minister Dr Dipu
Moni and State Minister Dr Hassan Mahmud today Sunday.
