Replying to a question from Fazlul Azim, an independent
lawmaker from Noakhali-6, on the seating arrangement, t prime minister Sheikh
Hasina rejected the BNP’s demand for more front-row seats.
She said the
opposition had been given more seats than they were supposed to get and the
ruling AL got fewer front seats. The AL is supposed to get 23, but actually it
has only 19 seats in the front row, she pointed out.
‘We have got
fewer front-row seats than we are supposed to. We have shown generosity to
honour other parties,’ claimed the prime minister, adding that the BNP got less
than 30 seats so it should get three seats.
‘Do they have
the right to demand that we do what they have not done?’ asked Hasina,
referring to the BNP’s demand for at least seven front-row seats. She
criticised the BNP for boycotting parliament just because of the seating
She referred to
the eighth parliament, saying the AL was given six front-row seats in spite of
having 60 MPs.
