India Files Charges in Mumbai Attack

Indian police have charged the lone surviving gunman in the Mumbai terror attacks of "waging war" against India.Authorities filed formal charges Wednesday against Pakistani national Mohammed Ajmal Kasab.

In a charge sheet that includes more than 10,000 pages, police also accused 37 other suspects of planning and abetting the November attacks. Mumbai's police commissioner, Rakesh Maria says the suspects include 35 Pakistani and two Indian nationals.

Police say all the Pakistani suspects are members of Lashkar-e-Taiba, a Pakistan-based Islamic terror group that India claims masterminded the attacks. The terror assaults were carried out over a three-day period, killing more than 170 people. The attacks have raised tensions between India and neighboring Pakistan, both nuclear-armed countries that have fought three wars.
