The Amabassador of Bangladesh, Humayun Kabir delivered a lecture at the Elliot School of International Affairs, George Washington University in DC.
The topic of his lecture was: New Actors in Dhaka & Washington: Prospect of US-Bangladesh Relations. In his lecture Ambassador Kabir drew a parallel between the aspirations of changes both in Bangladesh and in the US.
He talked in detail about how Bangladesh evolved into a new democracy and rejected both corruption and extremism. He also talked about the areas of possible cooperation between the US and Bangladesh beginning from curbing terrorism to responding to climate change and energy problems. He also said that new data are coming up and Bangladesh no longer is an agricultural country.
Ambassador Humayun Kabir said that the relationship between Bangladesh and the US has evolved from one of Aid dependence to that of Trade dependence.
