On the completion of President Barack Obama's first 100 days in office, Dr Ali Riaz and Dr Menhaz Momen over teleconference line participated in a "round-table" discussion on President's Obama's foreign policy.
Dr. Ali Riaz is a Professor and Chairman of Department of Politics & Government at Illinois State University. Dr Menhaz Momen is an Associate Professor of Sociology at A & M International University in Texas.
The discussants said that President Obama is really on his way to fulfilling his election promise of bringing in Changes. The signs of change is evident in his foreign policy. His promise to bring back US troops from Iraq by 2011, his focus on South Asia, particularly of Afghanistan and Pakistan, is a remarkable departure towards new direction.
The discussants also mentioned that his endeavor to bring Iran and Venezuela into the friendly fold is a proxy diplomacy for the Middle East. They also said that the test of Obama's success will lie in the Middle East. The discussants said that North Korea is not a big challenge for Obama administration.
