Water Resources Minister Ramesh Chandra Sen spoke Monday on the Tipaimukh Dam controversy. He accused the BNP for using the dam for political gain, when in fact there are possible benefits to be had from its construction.
Mr. Sen believes that the BNP is capitalizing on the controversy to minimize press about BNP leader Khaleda Zia's legal battle over her rented Cantonment house.
He said that India has yet to provide Bangladesh with any evidence of possibly detrimental impacts from the dam's construction.
A parliamentary team is expected to make a trip to the dam's proposed site in the Indian state of Manipur.
Meanwhile, various protests against the dam continue across the capital and in universities.
