Finance Minister AMA Muhith reveals the list of the top corporate loan defaulters on Sunday, compiled by the credit information bureau of Bangladesh Bank.
Beximco Group topped the list with a whopping Tk. 3,538.9 million in loan defaults, followed by Padma Textiles. All in all, 2,196 companies were placed on the list.
The minister said a Bangladesh Bank taskforce was working to stop the loan defaults and copmly with international banking standards. Mr. Muhith also held a meeting with a visiting Dutch delegation, after which he spoke with reporters.
He also said that he will soon be asking for statements of wealth from MPs and ministers by the end of the month.
