Dr Sufiyan Khandaker Talks about the Harvard Seminar in Bangladesh


Bangladesh Development Initiative (BDI), a USA-based non-profit organization (www.bdiusa.org), along with co-sponsors Democracy and Development in Bangladesh Forum (DDBF), Boston, Massachusetts and The Ash Institute for Democratic Governance & Innovation, John F. Kennedy School of Government, is organized a two-day conference to examine the development challenges facing Bangladesh.

Dr Sufiyan Khandaker says that Harvard seminar on the Development in Bangladesh focused on the ideas and the innovations in the next decade. In the seminar, paper presentations and discussions were held on five topics which included Governance, Water, Energy and Environment, Human Infra-Structure, Investment and Resource Mobilization and the last topic was Media and Culture. Dr Sufian Khandaker himself participated in a panel discussion on Water, Energy and Environment. The thrust of the discussion was cooperation between Bangladesh and its neighbors on water, energy and environment.

In this context Dr Khandaker says tha





with regards to the Tipai Mukh Dam , he said that if India nd Bangladesh jointly participated in this Tipaimukh project then it will bring positive result for both the countries. He said that Tipaimukh is a win –win project for both Bangladesh and India only when India assures that it will not divert water in winter by constructing a barrage at Fuler Toli.
