In Kolkata, National Security Advisor M. K. Narayanan took the pledge to become the Governor of West Bengal. He is one of the five Governors appointed by the United Progressive Alliance government.
Several political personalities were present during the pledge. The State Chief Secretary Ashok Mohan Chakrabarti conducted the ceremony. He said that the Governor may be from Kerala, but he understands the issues that affect West Bengal. He has the interest of West Bengal at heart, and will carry out his task well.
