Bangladesh SC Upholds HC Verdict on ACC’s Filing of Cases

Bangladesh Supreme Court on Sunday upheld a High Court verdict clearing the way for the Anti-Corruption Commission to run 500 cases filed by the commission officials during the administration of the Care taker government.

A four-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Md Fazlul Karim, ruled that it was legal that the anti-graft commission permitted its officials to file corruption case against Awami League lawmaker Habibur Rahman Mollah.

The court had earlier dismissed an appeal by the defendant against the HC verdict.

Amir Khasru has more on the story.
