The Speedy Trial Tribunal Bill 2002 providing for rapid trial of offenders was passed in Parliament on Sunday amidst walkout by opposition Awami League. Speedy Trial Tribunal Bill will put on speedy trial the cases of serious crimes involving murder, rape, illegal arms and explosives and narcotics. Opposition Awami League lawmakers walked out saying the bill is designed to persecute the Government’s political opponents.
