Bangladeshi Leaders Condemn the Attack - 2002-12-08


Our Correspondent from Dhaka and a local newspaper Editor from Mymensingh have informed that Prime Minister Khaleda Zia visited the hospital in Mymensingh where the injured from the bomb blast are being treated. She said that those responsible for this heinous crime will brought to justice.

The leader of the Opposition and the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina strongly condemned the attack and demanded exemplary punishment for the terrorists. A group of Opposition Leaders led by Abdus Samad Azad , former Foreign Minister , visited Mymensingh and addressed a press conference. They said that the terrorists who were carrying out explosions during the previous regime are doing the same again and demanded an enquiry committee to be set up.

In the meantime the government has formed a one- member enquiry commission with Justice Sultan Hussain Khan . The commission will investigate into the cause of this explosion and will identify the persons responsible for this. The commission is required to submit a report within three weeks.
