Organising Secretary of the Awami League Saber Hossain Chowdhury was freed from the Mymensingh jail yesterday morning. Mr. Chowdhury was arrested on December 8 under the Special Powers Act. Back in Dhaka, he placed a wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum.
The Awami League has shortened its strike period by four hours on Thursday. Instead of the dawn-to-dusk strike on January 16, the party decided to strike from 6:00am to 2:00pm to protest the recent fuel price hike.
