Bangladesh's foreign minister says his government is doing everything possible to ensure the safety of foreigners, as the country plays down the threat of terrorism against foreigners.
Foreign Minister Morshed Khan told reporters in Dhaka (Thursday) Bangladesh is a country with a tradition of peace and tolerance, and therefore such attacks are relatively unlikely to happen.
Mr. Khan's remarks came in response to the latest warning issued by the U-S State Department. The Department says it has received information regarding several possible threats against U-S interests in Bangladesh, including the U-S Embassy.
The alert also asked Americans and other Western nationals to remain vigilant, especially in public places frequented by foreigners
