A bill seeking 14th amendment to the constitution was placed in the Jatiya Sangsad yesterday and subsequently sent to the parliamentary committee on the law ministry for scrutiny within two weeks.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Moudud Ahmed tabled the bill that proposes among other things, 45 reserved seats for women in parliament and display of portraits of the president and prime minister in the government offices.
The bill was placed ignoring the demand of women rights' groups and mainstream opposition parties for direct election to the women's seats.
