In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service, Dr Syed Manzoorul Islam, Professor of English in Dhaka University says that the free thinkers in Bangladesh are often threatened by the terrorists and intellectual flowering of thoughts is increasingly challenged by the reationary forces. While paying tributes to Professor Humayun Azad, who died recently in Germany and was very seriously wounded by the fanatics in February, Prof Islam said that Dr Azad was an enlightened man and he never hid himself in the dark. Professor Syed Manzoorul Islam thinks that the february-attack on Professor Azad had shattered him to such an extent that it might have accelerated his sudden death. He,however, hoped that an investigation into his death would unveil the truth.
