US Strikes Fallujah, Sadr City - 2004-09-28

U.S. forces have struck a building in the Iraqi city of Fallujah where American officials say militants loyal to wanted terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi were meeting.

Officials say terrorists at the site were planning attacks on Iraqi civilians and U.S.-led forces in Iraq using foreign suicide bombers. It was not immediately clear how many people were killed in the U.S. strike.

The strike early this (Tuesday) morning came just after U.S. forces attacked insurgents in Baghdad's Sadr City. U.S. forces launched an assault on the same area early Monday, killing at least four people.

In other violence Monday, a car bomb in Mosul killed three Iraqi National Guardsmen. And four Iraqi civilians were killed in a roadside bomb north of Baghdad in Baquba.
