Bangladesh Parliament passed the Women’s Reserved Seats Election Bill, 2004. Awami League members walked out as the Speaker gave floor to Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Barrister Moudud Ahmed after a heated debate. Barrister Moudud Ahmed had introduced the bill. The Awami League members said the bill was unconstitutional, undemocratic and discriminatory to the women population. The bill was passed by a voice vote with backing of majority members of the House.
