An influential Sunni Muslim politician has again called for Iraq's January 30th election to be postponed, warning that the results could be seen as illegitimate if large sections of the population do not vote. Former Iraqi Governing Council member Adnan Pachachi told British radio on Saturday if the election is held as scheduled, it could be seen as non-inclusive and violence could worsen. In a separate development, an overnight explosion at a house near the northern city of Mosul is reported to have killed 14 people. The home owner blamed a US military airstrike, but a military spokesman in Baghdad said he had no immediate information about the incident. South of Baghdad, a car bomb exploded, killing at least one person and wounding several others. And three senior provincial officials from Tikrit were kidnapped on a road south of the capital.
