The Indian army is warning of more avalanches in Indian Kashmir as the death toll from snowstorms, massive snow slides and subzero temperatures approaches 200.
The weather improved today, Tuesday, but brought with it fears of more snow slides as the snow started to melt.
The army, backed by police and para-military forces and civilian volunteers, is trying to find survivors in six villages south of Srinagar flattened by weekend snow slides. Many villages remain inaccessible.
Indian army officials say they hope to have helicopters drop food in affected areas.
