A seminar on the crisis of human rights and law and order situation in Bangladesh was held in Washington DC under the auspices of US Institute of Peace where distinguished members of the Washington based think-tank and former diplomats reflected upon the situation in Bangladesh. Although they said that the situation could not be termed under “crisis” but it is a worrisome situation. While appreciating the progress Bangladesh has made , the speakers rang a bell of alarm in the growing influence of the fundamentalist parties in Bangladesh , particularly since two of the Islamists parties started sharing power with the government this concern has grown . They condemned political killings and suppression of Ahmedyyias and other minorities and stressed on the need of a free and fair election .
