The Congressman in a radio interview suggested that if terrorists attack US, Muslim holy sites like Mecca should be targeted. The US Embassy issued a statement denouncing the lawmaker’s comments and said his view was an "anathema to American ideology", the United States "unequivocally" rejected the idea of targeting Makkah or any other civilian or religious site by anyone.
