An Islamic Terrorist  who Attemped  to  Assassinate Hasina  is Under Police Remand


Police in Bangladesh has taken Mufti Hannan into ten days remand for further interrogation. He was presented to a Magistrate’s court in Dhaka on Sunday.

Hannan, arrested on Saturday in the capital's Maddhya Badda, also told the court that he was in Afghanistan . Hannan is an ex Taleban member in Afghanistan who allegedly had planted a bomb to kill the the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in 2000 . Police are also trying to find out whether he is linked to the massive bomb blast on August 17. Hannan belongs to an international terrorist organization named Harkatul Jihad. Hannan told Metropolitan Magistrate that he went to Pakistan for study in 1979 and later he visited some other countries also for study. He said he returned home in 1981. He went to Afghanistan in 1984 for military training. On his return, he had set up 'Al Hamdullah Hafezia Madrasa' at Kotalipara. Under interrogation by Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), Hannan has confessed to planting 76-kg bomb at Kotalipara on July 20, 2000, but he did not elaborate on how he got involved in the plot.
