In West Bengal and neighboring areas people celebrated Durga Puja. During the five-day of Durga Puja, people clad in new clothes thronged the puja pandals for pushpanjali. At the end of the festivities idols of deity Durga were immersed in the River Ganges. Gautam Gupta has more on the story.
