Howard Schaffer is the former US Ambassador to Bangladesh who takes Keen interest in Bangladesh. In this exclusive interview with VOA, Ambassador Schaffer, who is also the Deputy Director of the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy, says that Jamat-e-Islami one of the fundamentalist parties in the present coalition government may have links with the terrorists .In this second part of the interview Mr Schaffer says that his worst fear is that Bangladesh might turn into a pre-2001 Afghanistan , a safe haven for the Islamic militants. Ambassador Schaffer argues that terrorists in Bangladesh might join hands with the extremists in India to de-estabilize the region.
