Denmark Warns Nationals to Leave Indonesia

Denmark has warned its citizens living in Indonesia to leave the country because of threats from Muslim extremists angry about a cartoon depiction of the Prophet Muhammad.

In a statement Saturday, the Danish foreign ministry says it has received credible information that Danish citizens are being targeted. The warning comes after the ministry temporarily pulled diplomats from their posts in Iran, Indonesia and Syria after receiving threats. Muslim protests continued in several regions around the world.

Thousands of British Muslims marched in London to protest cartoons in Danish newspapers depicting Muhammad as a terrorist. Reports from the scene say the London march was peaceful and that demonstrators appealed for calm. Officials say Muslim protests also planned in Paris and other European cities. Local media reports say Muslim demonstrations also continued in Indonesia and Bangladesh.
