Bangladesh army tankers sent to Demra , the area which flared up following acute shortage of water and power started distributing water in the areas since the small hours of Saturday . Locals in thousands carrying all sorts of water containers thronged the army tanker lorries,because they feared that they might not get enough water.
Brigadier General Nizam Uddin , who is leading the team said on Friday that the army team is equipped with five water-purifying machines.The brigadier said they would continue providing the areas with water until the water supply by WASA (Water and Sewerage Authority) becomes normal and the crisis ends.
It may be mentioned here that these areas, right in the outskirts of the country’s capital were out of water for nearly three months.
