During the time of the War of Liberation in Bangladesh, many artists , performers and singers all around the world came for the support of Bangladesh. One of them is Joan Boez who would be remembered with honor by the Bengalis living at home and abroad.
In 1971 , at the age of thirty only, having heard the news of genocide by the Pakistani soldiers on the night of 25th March she was moved so emotionally that she composed a new song , named, The Song of Bangladesh. The song reflects the tragic plight of many young innocent souls at the hands of the Pakistani Army. Baez then started giving free performances and concerts to raise funds for Bangladesh.
