Reports: Former Bangladeshi PM Agrees To Exile Deal

Bangladeshi news reports say security forces have released the youngest son of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia as part of a deal that she and her family go into exile.

The reports quote unnamed officials as saying that Ms. Zia and her family are expected to leave for Saudi Arabia soon.

On Monday, the former prime minister's youngest son, 36-year-old Arafat Rahman, was detained by security forces.

Her elder son and political heir, Tareque Rahman, was charged with extortion last month. Earlier on Tuesday, court officials suspended proceedings on his case.

Officially, the government says that they are not putting any pressure on Mrs. Zia to leave the country and that a deal has not been made.

Amir Khasru has more on the story.
