Md Touhid Hossain, foreign secretary in-charge of Bangladesh, during his visit to US, held a meeting with Richard Boucher , US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian matters.
A press release from Bangladesh embassy in Washington DC says that Mr Boucher welcomed the Bangladesh’s foreign secretary and wanted know about the latest situation in Bangladesh. Boucher said that US has always been very keen to see a fully functional democracy in Bangladesh and therefore appreciates the good steps which the government of Bangladesh has taken so far.
In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service Touhid Hossain says that basically they spoke on two ways. He apprised the US Assistant Secretary of the steps which Bangladesh government has taken and answered to certain queries. Hossain also said that US has expressed its intention to see that everything done in Bangladesh is supported by law while appreciating the measures taken to curb corruptions. He informed the US government that the government of Bangladesh is aware of maintaining the rule of law so that any one brought to justice gets legal protection.
Hossain also said that while both USA and Bangladesh is united against terrorism, he thanked the US government for their cooperation and assistance to Banglades
