CPM-Trinomul Congress Peace Talk in West Bengal Postponed

In West Bengal, peace talk between the CPM and the Trinomul Congress leaders on Nandigram issue has ended in a bitter argument.

The CPM leaders refused to call the death of 14 people on the 14th of March, 2007 in Nandigram a genocide.

CPM leader Shaymol Babu says there is no evidence of rape and murder of a child.

The CPM activists did not collaborate with the police on that day, he adds.

Mamata Banerji, the Trinomul Congress leader, left the meeting place in protest.

The coordinator of the peace talk Ashok Ghosh says the peace talk has been postponed.

Gautam Gupta reports from Calcutta.
